The all new Nikon Coolpix 8700
truly has the power of 8 - its 8x optical Zoom- Nikkor lens is paired with
an 8 megapixel CCD for 23MB images that are unforgettable! The Vari-angle
LCD offers the freedom of shooting from any angle, and the Electronic
Viewfinder provides bright TTL, Through-the-Lens, viewing. 12 Scene Modes
are available for ease of use in typical shooting situations, or use the
advanced photographic settings for more creative control, especially when
shooting in RAW format. New AF Assist helps ensure accurate focus in dark
lighting conditions. The Coolpix 8700 is a complete digital solution with
optional wide angle, tele photo and fisheye converter lenses available.
8 Megapixel CCD and 8x Optical
Zoom-Nikkor Lens with ED Glass -
Combining an 8x optical Zoom-Nikkor lens and an 8 Megapixel CCD provides
the Coolpix 8700 with the true power of 8! Capture spectacular images at
resolutions up to 3264 x 2448 (23MB file) and create amazing prints at
sizes up to 20x30-inches. The 8x Zoom- Nikkor lens offers a 35-280mm zoom
(35mm equivalent), and uses aspherical elements, Super Integrated Coating
and ED (extra-low dispersion) glass for superior image quality.
Electronic Viewfinder and Vari-angle LCD
- An electronic viewfinder allows for TTL, Through-the-Lens viewing and
accurate framing of the subject, even when lens accessories are attached.
Alternately, use the Vari-angle LCD monitor for easy viewing at any angle.
The screen rotates 180-degrees so it fits flush on the back of the camera
for viewing or protection when not in use.
12 Scene Modes - Selecting a Scene
Mode automatically sets the camera for the optimum performance in most
popular picture-taking situations. The Scene Modes are: Portrait,
Party/Indoor, Night Portrait, Beach/Snow, Landscape, Sunset, Night
Landscape, Fireworks, Close Up, Copy, Back Light, and Panorama Assist.
Movie Mode with Time Lapse Option -
Capture the action while it happens; be it baby's first words or a deer
running through the woods. The movie, complete with sound, is saved as a
QuickTime file. The new timelapse capability lets capture images at fixed
intervals of 30 sec, 1, 5, 10, 30 or 60 minutes, then combines up to a
maximum of 1050 frames into a movie (max. of 35 seconds).
RAW Image Data Recording Mode - Raw
data from the CCD can be saved. These image files are slightly smaller
than TIFF files and are saved in NEF, Nikon Electronic Image Format,
without processing or compression, which preserves a high level of detail
and allows for applying adjustments after the picture has been saved.
AF Assist Illuminator - Offers extra
light, allowing the camera to focus even when the subject is poorly lit.
